The Search for Inner Peace

Our capacity to make peace with another person and with the world depends very much on our capacity to make peace with ourselves.

Thich Nhat Hanh: Living Buddha, Living Christ

This rings so true with me at this point in my life...

I'm so glad you're a fan of that book too. It completely opened my eyes this summer. I just love it. Some other quotes I love are:

"No single tradition monopolizes the truth. We must glean the best values of all traditions and work together to remove the tensions between traditions in order to give peace a chance."

And, "Our faith must be alive. It cannot be just a set of rigid beliefs and notions. Our faith must evolve everyday and bring us joy, peace, freedom, and love... And our actions must be modeled after those of the living Buddha or the living Christ. If we live as they did, we will have deep understanding and pure actions, and we will do our share to help create a more peaceful world for our children and all the children of God."

I wish I knew the page numbers, but I didn't write them down when I copied them down. I have them on post-it notes on my desk.

:-)
